Dear UNYWHO,

The History Department at Syracuse University seeks qualified seniors or
graduates as applicants to our graduate programs in History. In addition to
our Ph.D. program funding, we now fully fund qualified Masters students.
Admitted students with qualifying GPAs and GREs are offered a tuition
waiver, a teaching stipend and benefits for a two-year, 30 credit-hour M.A.
degree. Students work closely with faculty as graduate teaching assistants,
and take graduate coursework in a variety of history courses.

The M.A. degree program is a particularly attractive opportunity for
students interested in teaching high school history. But it's also ideal
for anyone who wants to study history at a graduate level and write a
thesis based on original research. The Syracuse History Department has over
twenty full-time faculty members whose research spans much of the globe. We
study the United States, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East,
Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, and East Asia, from the classical period to
the recent past. We also have particular thematic strengths with faculty
who focus on *gender and sexuality*, state violence and warfare, and legal
and intellectual history.

All interested students should take a look at our graduate requirements for
the M.A. and Ph.D. at *https://www.maxwell.syr.edu/hist.aspx?id=757*
<https://www.maxwell.syr.edu/hist.aspx?id=757>

Prospective students are encouraged to contact faculty members with
relevant research interests to see if they are available to advise Masters
and Ph.D. students.

If you or your students have questions about the graduate programs in
History, please feel free to contact me at branson at syr.edu.

Sincerely,

Susan Branson
Professor of History
Director of Graduate Studies
